Keep Ibiza tidy

In: Beach life | 29/08/2006 |

Cala_dHort3.jpgGiven the large numbers of visitors to Ibiza, the beaches here are surprisingly clean. Much time and effort goes into maintaining them, but the standard would be much higher if the crap wasn’t left there in the first place.
In the same way that somebody else’s mess is infinitely more annoying that your own, think what it must be like for the other creatures we share this fragile ecosystem with. The stress can quite literally kill them.
So how about taking your bottles, coke cans, plastic bags and other garbage with you. Don’t throw your cigarette butts on the sand or in the water, keep hold of it until you find a bin. If everybody takes all their own rubbish and one piece of someone else’s, the envinroment will be pristine.
Ibiza isn’t about fines for littering, it’s about tolerance and respect for others. Not even the harshest of penalties can determine human behaviour. Social controls are much more effective. So stop being a messy bugger, alright?
