Raquel: From Manhattan to Ibiza

In: Ibiza experience | 27/06/2007 |

raquel1.jpgRaquel came to Ibiza from Manhattan for a week, here she leaves her impressions about the island. Feel free to send in yours.

- Going to Ibiza was an easy decision to make, with a friend already living there and an undying long winter in new york i embarked in the pleasant mission of discovering what the buzz is all about.
A music lover and club goer myself i had heard so much about the crazy night life you could lead in this island, but i ended up arriving on a quiet June weekend, right after the craziness of the opening and when 3 of the major clubs were shut down by the authorities.
My favorite town was Santa Eularia del rio, which is the second biggest town in the whole island, a very picturesque town filled with white houses, lots of garden and a sweet smell of flowers, here i understood why ibiza is called ‘la isla blanca’, ‘the white island’.
Later that sunday going for a drive in the island we made a stop at benirras, another one of my favorite spot, a small bay with pine covered sorroundings hills where we were lucky to enjoy an ‘unplugged’ concert of local drummers to the most amazing sunset. The rest of my days were spent enjoying the many hues of the sea and the different textures of the beaches each with unique natural elements, mountains, vegetation, white sands, rocks and woods.
From any point this is an island with a well deserved reputation and ready to embrace nature lovers!
