Is this the end for day parties in Ibiza?
It’s been a year of expansion for two famous ‘after hour’ venues located near the flight path of planes landing at Ibiza’s only airport, Space and Dc10. This summer they hosted most of the best day and night parties on the island.
But authorities in Ibiza have made their position clear - the current situation where one club closes and the next opens is not wanted. The “24h hour 7 days a week fiesta” is considered injurious to health and Ibiza’s international reputation.
2007 may go down the first year in which there are no legal events beginning after dawn and before midday.
How would you rate Ibiza without day parties?

Common sense tells us that clubbers are hardly going to go for ‘a little nap’ while waiting for a club to open at midday rather than 8am. They are going to cause a far more visable ‘problem’ by roaming the island looking for bars and after-parties. Surely if the authorities want more control they must see that a soundproofed club is by far the best place for people to party in the daytime in terms of health, noise, road safety and impact on residents. This political posturing is likely to have many negative repercussions and like all forms of prohibition, will probably produce more of the very thing it aims to stamp out.
