Ibiza World Heritage

worldheritage.gifIn December 1999 the World Heritage committee of UNESCO declared Ibiza “World Heritage”.
With more than 700 cultural and natural sites already protected worldwide, the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO is working to make sure that future generations can inherit the treasures of the past. Ibiza’s Medieval fair

Ibiza_flag.pngIbiza will once again celebrate its status of World Heritage City by holding its annual Medieval Fair in Dalt Vila this year. The council has set aside €45000 to cover the cost of the three day extravaganza starting on Friday 12th May until Sunday 14th.
Last year over 100,000 turned up in the old centre of Eivissa called Dalt Vila to witness street performers and browse the 60 stalls selling traditional products.

30 exhibitions in Dalt Vila

THE SMOKER.jpgThere are over 30 exhibitions of paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs currently showing in galleries, museums and bars in Ibiza.
The biggest attraction of all is definitely the display of Picasso’s work at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Dalt Vila, which opened the 16th of September and running until the end of October. Two series of his drawings, produced when he was 80 years old, ‘The Smokers’ (see pict) and ‘Family Portraits’ have been lent to the museum by the Fundaci�n Bancaixa for public viewing.
